7th Grade: In Math, students began probability unit and the difference between experimental and theoretical probability. In Science, students are learning about Earth’s structure and layers, fossil formation processes, and the various types of rocks and their origins. They’re also exploring the flow of energy and matter, understanding renewable and nonrenewable resource distribution and analyzing how time, human activity, and technology impact resource availability. In Social Studies, we’re studying the time of great change in Europe. Just finished a unit on The Renaissance and now looking at further change in Europe due to the ideas of The Reformation.
8th Grade: In Math, students are beginning unit on basic transformations. In Science, students are mastering the understanding of forces, including the laws of motion, and applying them to solve problems. They’re exploring the relationships between magnets and charges, learning to calculate velocity from data, and interpreting graphs representing wave behaviors. In Social Studies, we’re finishing Economics, which focuses on markets and our roles in the market (as buyers and sellers).
